Hey Scott, How are you? I don't know how to break this to you, but, umm, those guys at that tire shop are f**king idiots! A 70-series tire, with a width of 225 on a 15" rim? No way! That is huge! Way bigger than the stock 14"s which came originally, running a P205/70/R14. The original diameter of the stock 14"s were: 642.6mm, while what you have now is: 696mm, horribly wrong.

I can understand what you are going through, I've met dumb-ass people like this before. You should be running a 60-series or even less, I'd personnally go for "the even less", or like you said, you will hit the spring.

First, find a new tire shop

Second, check out a profile from about a 55-series to a 60-series, whatever suits you best. Try Pirelli, Yokohama, or Michelin, these are damn fine tires. I have Bridgestone Potenzas, and I hate them!

And lastly, take a pic and post it on roadfly so we can check out your car, and rim/tire package!

I hope I have been of useful service to you,
SpencerM
