Battery Light! (archive)

Just last week i replaced my alernater, and my car was running fine, the battery light would go right off. But today when i fired her up, the battery light stayed on, i drove around a bit and it still stayed on, i turned her off and then back on a couple of time and still the battery light was on. What could be causing this?? And like i said its a brand new altenator.
