Kevin-

I actually removed the batteries completely and didn't replace them with anything. The service interval lights don't function but they really never functioned right anyway... even when I did replace the batteries with good ones. This is probably something specific to my car but I don't feel the need to bother with it. Besides, I do all the servicing myself so there really isn't any need for the lights.

I have thought about wiring up all the green lights to stay on all the time (just so it looks good) but again, probably no need to bother with it.

I did find one mistake in my solution to the erratic gauge problem, by the way. It seems now that since I've spaced the gauge unit a little further above the circuit board, all the little lights in that area (i.e. blinker, check light, etc.) bleed through each others lenses. I might just scratch off the origional ground on the circuit board and lower the unit back onto it.

Nick
