Hi,

My 735i is particularly sad - had a "leak down" test done after I bought it, and I guess I am up for about US$2000 for a motor rebuild in the next few months.

Badly in need of a complete overhaul, the engine compression on each cylinder from 1 to 6 is 24%, 5%, 65%, 13%, 52% and 40%. This indicates little or no rings - according to my mechanic.

The car runs magnificently, although a bit rough at idle, and is quick off the mark. It doesn't burn oil, but it soon might.

Did I mention the camshaft is unserviceable, and the valve train is worn and noisy ?

BUT IT STILL GOES WELL, and the M30 lives up to its reputation as being indestructible !

Should I buy another and save the cost of a rebuild ? - economically, yes - EMOTIONALLY (and thats the key) - NO WAY !!!

PS. The best leather care product I have encountered in many years of motoring is an English product (Ralf, take note - the orders will be coming) - CONNOLLY HIDE CARE. Based in Kent, UK. Very kind to leather and return the suppleness and feel of new leather if used as directed.
