I have owned my 84 BMW 733i (223,000+) going on four years now and besides replacing a front ball joint and routine oil changes I have never had any major problems untill today. On my way to church this morning I smelled a strong gas odor. At first I thought it was just the fumes from the gas station I had just stopped at. However, as I got to the church the smell got even stonger. I told the other members of my party to go on in. I stayed behind in the parking lot to see if I could get to the bottom of the problem. Sure enough when I looked under the engine compartment the entire front under carriage was covered and dripping with gas. Startled I open the hood At first I only saw a small residue of gas. However when I started the engine the gas spouted out like old faithful. I could not see where it was coming from. However it was located near the left top rear of the engine. I (maybe foolishy) drove the car to a garge about two blocks away and then went back to church. The mechanic is supposed to give me a call tommorw morning. Everything was fine last night! The only thing I did was toy around with the automatic transmission ie, shift from 1st to 3rd. HELP the thing is a smelly mess!!!!!!!!What most likey will be the mechanics diganois?
