I have same problem: sporatic odo. function. goes awhile then not! I have three instrument clusters, all used, all with DGD.(degenerative gear disease) If you are a watchmaker with the tenacity of a pit bull, this jobs for U! I can't get the spedo needle off to remove the face to take apart the gear train to remove said crappy gear, anyway, they're not available anymore?? I've taken a radical approach: I bought a 633csi,and gave the 7 to the wife who doesn't really care!! gooood luck. I'm mostly hangin on the six board these days. This is an inherently weak gear in the Odo. Getting a used replacement is questionable, since it would be as old. Rumor has it the problem comes from resetting the trip odo while the car is moving. There used to be replacement gear... same NOS, but seem to have dryed up. There are a couple of rebuild companies... one is Palo Alto Speedos in Palo Alto Ca... spendy and probably using the original gear.
