I have a 1980 733i. Where is all the water in my trunk coming from. The seal around my truck seams to be fine. Do the drain tubes for the sunroof or the vents on the rear roof piller go through the trunk. My dad has a 1983 528e with the same problem. I live in western Washington in the US and it rains all the time so i can't use my truck for anything unless it is plastic.

Chris, I live in southern oregon. It rains a bit here too. My wifes' 79 733i had the leak. I removed and reglued the trunk seal w/ 3M glue. I
siliconed the checks in the seal. I removed the lite lenses and replaced the seal with 1/8" sticky
foam tape from a window shop.( closestBMW dealer is Eugene 90 miles). Last, I used polyurethane
sealant to reseal the body seams behind the carpetcovered panels, back where the fuel filler
on one side and behind spare on other. Each time
I did a new operation, less water. Those three
things eliminated all leaks. Oh yes also I adjusted the trunk latch and hinges to seat very tight. Good luck! It's worth it!
