You will probably need the entire motor, your 6er has too high of a compression ratio to work with the turbo set-up of the 745.

I would buy the whole car, you will need just about everything under the hood! You'll need the ECU and knock control computer, wastegate, exhaust downpipe, intercooler, ram air cooling scoop and plumbing, intake tubing and couplings, turbo aftercool fan, controller and plumbing.

The turbo motor also uses a thicker radiator, and there is also I think an oil cooler not on the 6er.

The engine transplant would be a project, but it is doable. Adapting the turbo to a normally aspirated engine would be very trickey, with questionable results.

I recently found an '81 745i for sale in the local paper. There is some major front end damage, and he wants $800 for the whole thing. The engine runs, but the car is not driveable. I am interested in buying the turbo system from the car for possible use on a 635CSi (it was, after all, listed in the section for parting out). It is supposed to have 135k miles on it. I was wondering what I should pay for the turbo, and if anybody happens to know what components I will need.
