How do you check electrical impulse to injectors (archive)

Can anyone tell me how to check if I am getting any electrical impulse to the injectors, and how to check this out. My 85 735i is getting plenty of spark, but will not start. I tried to see if it would hit on either, but it would not. It puzzled me because I figured it should at least hit on either, if I had spark.
I pulled the fuel line at the rail and am getting fuel, but as yet I have not checked the fuel pressure. I am going to try to find a fuel pressure tester today. I understand this pressure needs to be between 32 and 39 psi., even though I seem to have plenty of pressure. Is there any thing else I need to check?
