79 3.5L M30 (archive)

Looking at buying a 3.5L L-jet M30 out of a 79 635 it's doen around 213,000km. Went and had a look at it yesterday - oil all over the bottom of the motor but doesn't appear to be any leaks from the head, just the sump gasket. Blows a small amount of water on startup but stopped after about 1/2 - 1 min. Motor ran fine excempt occasional stutter when planting the foot from stop, would I be right in guessing sticky AFM?. Blows the odd bit of blue smoke around the 4000rpm mark. But I couldn't keep up it in my 81 735. I mean once he hit power I was left behind. So what to do about this motor. The guy wants AUD$2200. I believe I could get it for at least AUD$2000 but I would aim for $1500 should I get it???
