In Reply to: 745i oil to M1, is it a good idea to add regular posted by Craig Day on March 24, 2002 at 23:55:15:

I tried everthing to get that baby free. I tried to pull it up the top end then tried to get it out the bottom end but it seemed like there was no room to do it.

Albeit, it was 1:30AM and I might not have used my aging mind like I should've but I finally gave up and wanted to go to bed. I just shoved the filter in the cannister put then O ring on it and pushed it back up and wanted to be done with it.
Then it took me another 10 or fifteen just to to get the bolt started again.

You can't imagine how humiated I felt letting the cannister get the best of me. I will get it back next time and even clean the damned thing out.

It is not worth pulling it off again to clean the cannister out is it.

Thanks again guys! Your Great!

Craig

oil to the synthetic to help keep the seals from drying out.
This engine at 120K has never had synthetic before.
I've heard that it doesn't hurt.
If so how much should be mixed in there?

And after trying a hour and a half oil change I want to know if the oil casing is supposed to come out to get the new filter in there or do you kind of just add the filter while is is just hanging in there.

Also I got hardly any oil at all from the bleed valve. I thought I woul get as much as the casing holds, maybe half to 2/3rds a quart but no where near that much.

Thanks guys, your great.
Craig
