best custom choice for stereo (archive)

my 733i doesn't have the opening in the rear armrest for the skis.. and i have a nice stereo system in the trunk.. and i want to be able to hear more bass and less rattle so my question is...
Which would be the better choice of custom jobs to persue? A whole behind the rear armrest or holes in the rear deck with grilles put over the holes.. my dad thinks that the car is going to fall apart or something if i do it. which would be the easiest and less damage to the car..
i seen a bunch that had holes cut behind arm rest and am leaning towards that.
just thouhgt i'd get some more opinions
