color for euro front spoiler/bumper (archive)

what is the proper color for the stock euro front bumper/spoiler assembly, in particular, the lower flexible part? on the donor car ('84 735i) it was gray, which matched the car, but i've seen pictures of this assembly on other color cars and it was still gray. should it be body color or is gray the way to go? tia.
