Hi All,

I located a type 1 head from a 81 745i.
Casting number 1 304 473

I am working towards a conversion of a 1985 635csi.
Present csi head casting number is 1 277 358.
Never had that csi head off so that is all I know about it.

It has the 10 m/m exhaust side studs and that is good.
Two bent in shipment, that may be correctable stainless is workable.

It, older head, also came with the older L-Jet distributor mount.

1. Can I use it on a monotronic engine after changing the cam and the front housing from the replaced head?

2. Any cam shaft recommendations?

3. Any recommendations on BMP turbo 2 m/m $199 head gasket?

4. I also would like to know if this early version, 1981, had the sodium filled exhaust valves? The ETK tells me alot but I can not find that out.

Any past experience with Metric Mechanic on the Turbo Head. I live in KC and they are with in a tank of gas.
My past experience on other cars with them is great knowledge but greater price on some low tech issues.
I resisted one recomendation for 25 years and had to say, next time make me buy it.

5. So do I need them, Metric Mechanic = Jim Rowe?

thx in advance,
Ron Carter
