but backed off when it seemed apparent that Korman had modified an M30 rather than the original M102 engine. The idle control valve and lack of original knock sensors led me to believe it was an M30. If this proves to be correct, then you are right about the compression ratio being than the stock 745 engine.

Gorgeous car...sad that it didn't get you home under its own power.

Gentlemen.... You are out of my area of knowledge... so, I's suggest you call the folks who built the beast and see what they recommend....

However.... If, in fact, the car has no knock sensor, this only supports my contention that it is knock/predetonation that kills head gaskets....

Further, I still contend, that the stock head and head gasket configuration is strong enough to support the set-up you have... IMHO, one turbo or two... is immaterial... it is the level of boost that counts... the 2 turbo set-up only helps reduce the turbo lag... If you are truly only running 10 psi boost, that is about .8 bar and I see that EVERY DAY, and have for the last 2 years on an engine with 231 000 miles/ w/ original head gasket and original turbo..... Again, IMHO it is not boost that kills head gaskets, but knock. Fix the knock and you won't kill the head gasket...

Let me add.... I'm envious... It sounds like a incredible car, if I had had the money, I would have bid on it... but alas, ... If wishes were horses, then beggers would ride... as I said I'm envious.

Lastly, I really think that, with patience, carefull for-thought and analysis, the car can be made "right".

Obviously, start by replacing the head gasket, then install an O2 sensor and a fast DVOM or HALMETER AFR30, (or equivelent) so you can monitor mixtures. Then START SLOWLY with factory boost, better yet with no boost, and lets see what the mixtures are running. We can build up from there.... Remember, the technology and concepts that built the car have advanced in the last "X" years since Korman did their thing... I'm certainly willing to lend a hand and suggest things from my experience.

Send me an email at jhstein@mindspring.com and I'll give you my phone number....

85 745, w/231 000 miles. Playing with 1.2 bar every day w/ a 3.91 lsd .... what a rush.... (ask Bruce H.) (mileage sucks, but what the heck .... the C5's and tricked-up plastic clad Firebirds/Cameros hate me.......)
