You know, that's one thing I thought about. It's hard to say; the car was in fact born a 745i ('82 jetronic, of course) but now has motronic injection from a 735i. So it's definitely possible they used that engine as well. I guess I'll have to look into engine numbers.

but backed off when it seemed apparent that Korman had modified an M30 rather than the original M102 engine. The idle control valve and lack of original knock sensors led me to believe it was an M30. If this proves to be correct, then you are right about the compression ratio being than the stock 745 engine.

Gorgeous car...sad that it didn't get you home under its own power.
