That valve controls the boost between 0.3 and o.5 bar boost. When you change the gear switch to "S" the boost will go up from 0.3 bar to 0.5 bar. Only then the valve is activated and you see 12 V on it. If the Motronic Knock sensor unit detects knock then it will force the valve to go back to 0.3 bar boost and at the same time the Motronic will change the ignition timing until the knock situation is over.


I just got another boost soleniod thinking that was the problem. Turns out, I called Jon Jacobs, and he told me to test them out, and how to test them. They both ended up working. I immediatley checked the voltage to the plug thet plugs into the solenoid. No voltage. I hav one question, does the engine have to be above idle, or will should it get voltage at idle. Thanks for the help. I think I'm going to just get the chip and do away with the solenoid and all of that and call it a day.
