Help, 745i stalls, dies, at idle or under load... (archive)

The PO had abandoned hope in my newest 745i. He had it stall or die and that was too unnerving for him. But it was stalling after sitting for 6 months and then it went away and I drove it home while it stalled and hisitated some.

Anyway it comes and goes. It runs perfect for 15 miles then unexpectedly happens again. The tach drops and it stalls and then comes right back. It can happen so bad that it will start and won't pull up the rpm with any throttle, and run for 3 seconds then die again. Last night I sat by her for about 20 minutes trying to start her and playing with wires. Then she started and ran again, so I drover her home.

I put a known good AFM on tonight and she started and ran fine but then it came back and she acted the same way. Where should I start looking.
