Whoever installed the stereo canabalized the wiring. Anywaym *embarrased* the stereo and obc were not working because of a blown fuse.

The idle isssue worries me, though. I had a car that idled wihtout much of a hitch, but now she thrums (at muffler) a bit louder and idles really rough. I've read many of the issues about idle problems, but this didn't start until I got into the dash. What could I have hit?

LOL !! You neglected to post that it wasn't the original radio, : ) Well good.

The best I can think of on this end is what Jens keeps telling me, and I quote, " These engines are particularly sensitive to vacuum leaks ". Did you, through you remedy of the other situation, pluck something loose under the dash that's venting air to the intake system ?. Did you disconnect other vacuum lines while diagnosing the original vacuum problems ?. What remedy did you use that allows the system to function ?. You said something about a fix of sorts.
