Hey guys,

My 85 735 doesn't engage the starter. I am able to get it running by turning the key 'on' and jumping power to the contact on the starter where the small wire plugs in (to get the starter to crank). I have been browsing the archives and I take it there are a few suspects here, including the ignition switch and a couple of relays. I'm not familiar with the relays in the car, but I'm willing to learn and I've got a test light and a multi-meter. Can anyone walk me through some troubleshooting steps?

I suspect the switch because I experienced difficulty in turning to the start position a day or so before it stopped working. If it's the switch, I'd appreciate any ideas on rigging up a temporary push-button switch until I can track down parts and fix it right.

I just got done R&R the head, so I might have bumped something. But it started fine for four days afterwards, so it may just be coincidence, or maybe related to sitting for 3 weeks while the head was being serviced.

199,601 miles. Will it make 200,000?!

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Korby
