One of the last replys mentioned getting it from the dealer.... Hmmmm
They are usually my last choice ..... and yes, price is the reason. I'm the first to admit that I buy a lot of car parts to keep the kids older VW Jettas, the wife's MB and my 2 toys running, but, for my money, find a mass marketer, or better yet a Mom and Pop foreign parts store, and make friends.... I don't mean kiss ass, but it is amazing what some cookies or sweet rolls at Christmas time will do to your prices rates... There are lots of ways to compare prices, and often times if done right, and are willing to pay just a little more than the absolute lowest price from the discounters it is amazing how you can ease into their "prefered customer" price structure. Remember, you have shipping costs and delivery times to contend with .... Plus the issue of returns. The local guy can usually have it there in hours, and certainly over niight...If you work it right, you can probably over time, work your price structure down to the same as the repair shops (or less).
Just my .02, but give it a try.... you might be surprised. It won't happen over night, but it is worth a try ... even if it is just to keet the local guy in business ....
So back to brakes and pads... at the dealer ... take a big check book.... But if you buy brand name stuff, and ATE and MM are certainly that, then I would have no worries going local.
