Question for any rust experts out there... (archive)

I have some surface rust in the trunk of my BMW, due to leaking trunk seal and tail light gaskets. Parts of it is begining to flake up, but has not really started to pit realy bad. I have thought about sanding / grinding the areas down, treating with POR-15 and then priming. Would this be my best course of action, or is there something else I would need to do?   - I have read this someplace. Zinc is considered demet 85'745 CT 08:59 4/30/2002 (1)
