1. California smog requirements. I can transplant a US M6 engine into my car and pass the rigid California red tape with proper cats and smog equipment. If I ATTEMPTED to do that with a 745 engine, I would likely have to go through the complete smog test which is $1500-$2000 with no guarantees I would pass. That is because the 745 engine was not originally approved for California. Even though I had a Euro M635 engine also, I did not use it to avoid this issue.
2. I run my car on the track. I have some reservations about durability on a modded 745i on the track. Will it hold up at several 2 day driving schools a year? I've run 3 track schools this year and am going to another one in 2 weeks. NO problems whatsoever.
3. I run my car on the track. I think it would be difficult to control the boost (and therefore power) through a 90 mph sweeper. And I don't want to be surprised...
If someone has tracked their 745 regularly and can offer differing opinions, I'll listen.
