See if you can locate a product called "ospho", It's a chromic acid based rust killer. Once applied and dry, it can be painted. Suggest you use a commercial Rustoleum paint.

I have some surface rust in the trunk of my BMW, due to leaking trunk seal and tail light gaskets. Parts of it is begining to flake up, but has not really started to pit realy bad. I have thought about sanding / grinding the areas down, treating with POR-15 and then priming. Would this be my best course of action, or is there something else I would need to do? Thanks again everyone!!
