Yeah I know the turbo is uber fast but....
I want a naturally aspirated motor, for now.
I figure if I start with a natural hot motor, I can turbo it later right???
So thats why I want to find out about the H7 motor and the alpina and the M6 motor.

Matt,

I didn't mean turbocharging, but supercharging (compressor) to fit properly a turbocharger on a M30 engine, there's so much mods needed, that that makes no sens and it's not worth the hassle. You're just better off to swap it for a M102 (745i) engine. A compressor on american spec. engines would work just fine, because of its lower comp. ratio (I guess about 8:1 ?)

The ///M engine got every thing on performance side for a "normaly" aspired engine (twin cam, 4 valves,...etc).

As about the way Hartge & Co get more power from a M30 engine, it's just the old school. You don't need to purchase one of those engines, just do it yourself.... Get the head lower to get higher comp. ratio, special lighter, forged pistons, a highflow air filter, polished intakes, stronger valve recal springs, more degrees on cameshaft, larger intakes (valves), the whole exhaust line....etc. And I forget some, forsure.

Good luck and have fun working on your E23.

Regards, Afshin.
