You're right that Macs were safer in the past, but since Microcrap is a major shareholder in Apple Mac, they have released office and more importantly Internet explorer for it which includes Outlook express.
Good for you if you run an old netscape on your system 4.x, no version 6 because then is just as bad as IE.

There is an email on the way to you with the header of the offending mail.

Maybe it help you in tracking down what is happening, even though it does not appear to come from you.
