Hello,
I have a '79 633CSi sitting in the backyard of a friends house. I bought it as a project car a few months ago and have not had time to get to it yet. Today we had some strong winds around here and a large tree branch fell on it and broke the rear window and dented the rear quarter panel.
Mechanically the car is in pretty good shape but it does have a lot of rust. My original plan was to spend a day or two welding and then give it a decent paint job. Winter is coming on and I don't have a heated garage where I can do the paintwork. I don't think it would do the car any good to sit outside there over the winter where something else bad might happen to it.
If anyone (real ambitious) is looking for a project or if you need a complete (minus rear window) parts car, let me know. The first $800 will take it.
Or...
If anyone near Philadelphia or Allentown PA has a rear window they would part with very inexpensively, let me know.
The car is really rusty. The worst part is the floor which is important for strength of the body but relatively simple to fix as finish is not as critical as on more visible panels. There is rust above the right rear wheel. The rockers should be replaced too.
Cosmetically the car looks tired.
Mechanically it's pretty good. It was owned by a mechanic who retired it because of the rust. It has about 200,000 in it but the motor ran well, a little puff of smoke when you start it but none while driving.
It was strong and smooth. I tried starting it a couple weeks ago and couldn't get it going. I didn't have time to figure it out why. The automatic transmission was rebuilt a few years ago and is fine. The suspension and brakes are good. I believe the calipers are fairly new.
If you are interested I'll try to get some pictures together. The car is located in Lahaska, PA, near New Hope.
Thanks,
Colin Miller
