: could anyone tell me the advantage of switching from trx tires on trx 14 in rims ........to 15 in rims....?
: is the handling going to be that much better over the stock 220/55/vr/390 trx tires?......right now i have the stock rims and tires and need to replace 2 tires.....
: thank you for any help or ideas......
Maybe I don't understand your problem, but 390 TRX tires are alreadty 15.3" Therein lies the problem. Michelin TRX tires are the only ones made that will fit this wheel. These tires were at one time almost impossible to get and were expensive. I've been told that Tire Rack and some other dealers have them, but have not actually checked myself. Suggest you check with your dealer as to availability and cost.
The TRX is not a bad tire, but is yesterday's technology. Newer tires are better-traction, grip, etc.
14" wheels were standard on older 6 series.
Most people want to get rid of the 390 mm wheels for this reason. i5's or 16's seem to be a good choice, depending on what type wheel you want, are you buying new?
6 series will accept 17" wheels, and look more in scale than smaller wheels.
I'm running 235/45/17's on my car. 17's are a little large and you probably will get some shimmy. I had a lot initially but have gotten rid of almost all with high speed balancing. Am anticipating some suspension changes to completely get rid of it.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
