: About 2 yrs. ago my parents' 633 CSI overheated, started running rough, and had it towed home. The gas and oil did indeed mix. The oil was immediately changed and it has been sitting since. Is there any hope for engine? If the head cracked can it be repaired?

Lower end should be ok.... I would drain and fill the oil again..... However, I would not suggest a repair on a head, it always will be a week point in the head for future failure. Now the 3.5L heads are not that hard to find in parts yards for a fair to cheap price or better yet - Call BMP, Bavarian, or local rebuilder - in fact they have rebuilt heads for around $800 - $1000.... Bare ones or part/salvage heads should only be around $200, but should be rebuilt (depending on the number of useable parts from old head, and rebuilder) and would cost $200-$450...

Good luck... and remember TDC when re-installing the head!

Oh, yeah Also search (in parts yards ) for E28 (533/535)...E24 (633/635)....And E23 (733/735)... Though before 1986 After that they bored out to add HP.... Not compatable After 1986...
