Since the insurance companies get their model information from the VIN number, and the VIN numbers from euro cars are not in their database, they don't know what kind of car you have. When asked what kind of car I had by the insurance agent, I stated flatly that it was an M635csi, a two-door, six cylinder coupe, similar to the 635csi. I didn't have any problems.
While this brings the insurance cost down, it opens up the possibility nasty wrangling with the insurance company over any repair that exceeds that for a stock american 635. Basically that would be either the engine or bumper damage.
: Where do you go about getting insurance for a GRAY MARKET m6? Nobody in my town will give me collision/comp for less than $1100/yr! (not incl. liability!!!) PLUS there is a $1000 deductible. F THAT!
