I am also in the process of rebuilding a 3.5 this winter and am scouting for parts. Bavarian and BMP appear to have most all the parts for an internal rebuild. Both have good prices depending on the part. I'll keep you posted as to other sources as I fin them.Don't rule out the dealer also. I have found that Nick Alexander BMW in LA has some very good prices for 'CCA members and their prices are cheaper than most catalog sources. I found this out doing a rear suspension rebuild on my son's '86 535. The catalogs couldn't come close to the price of original BMW parts from Alexander. They advertise in the Roundel. I'll keep you posted.
Thank You and Regards,
Tom M. in PA
