Rear speaker mount, 633csi (archive)

I installed a system in my '82 633csi, but I noticed it has no mount for the rears. I want to install 6x9's, but all that is under the cover is an empty "basket" type area, how do I mount them. Do I have to cut a hole in the sheet metal. Thank you
