I installed mine in the storage area behind the rear headrests. You need to drill a series of holes in the metal covers, not a problem for me because I was replacing the fabric anyway. You'll also need some spacers to hold the speaker off the metal, the plate is curved. You can also use neoprene sheet and cut gaskets to hold the speaker off the metal plate.

: I installed a system in my '82 633csi, but I noticed it has no mount for the rears. I want to install 6x9's, but all that is under the cover is an empty "basket" type area, how do I mount them. Do I have to cut a hole in the sheet metal. Thank you
