My owners manual says to consult dealer if AAAA or PPPP is displayed. I know its an old car but I would try BMW dealer anyway-local dealer here in Dallas has helped me out with stuff on my 85 635. I found a completely functional OBC at a foreign car wreck yard-It came from a 635 but I'm sure they're all the same for that era of car.
