I cannot tell you what the car is worth without seeing it. I do, however, know that 19K is HIGH for an 87! I would MAYBE pay 19K for an 89 with 65k mi on it, but only if it was P E R F E C T. People tend to be proud of their 6 cars, and do not realize that, due to the "race car"-like upkeep, resale is currently not too high for the amount of car you get in an M6. I would go NO higher than 15, and only after a KNOWLEDGEABLE BMW tech looked at the car. Keep in mind that the guy who sold me my 85 M635csi sank $13000 into it in just three years!!! I drive somewhat more conservatively than he, but still rack up quite the maint. bill. If you look around in the "Hemming Motor News," you will see that the avg. price on one of these gems is 13-17k. PERIOD. 1989, being the last year made, is the most desirable US model in my book, but the EURO models are MUCH quicker stock, and have less restrictive exhaust systems (no cats on some). You can pick up a NICE 85 euro, 86 euro, or 87 US model( US has self lev. rear suspension ), for around 12,500-13,500 depending on condition. Whatever you do, drive the heck out of 'em before you buy them. I think I scared the first few folks who's cars I test drove! I ended up finding one that just felt TIGHT and STRONG, you'll know when you do. My mechanic shit his pants at how clean it was, too, so I bought it. -JM
