noisy clutch bearing (archive)

Lately, the clutch on my '84 633 has been making a kind of rattling noise whenever I release it. When the clutch is pushed in, the noise goes away. I am guessing this is the throw out bearing. Could this be attributed to a low fluid level and what would I be looking at cost-wise for a fix. Otherwise, the clutch and tranny seem to be in great shape.
