Fuel Gauge not working propery (archive)

My fuel Gauge on my 82 633 does not work correctly. It does not go all the way to full when its full, and reads about 3/8ths when empty. Every once in a while when it is close to empty and I first turn on the key it will show the correct reading. Then it will snap back to 3/8ths.

Any Ideas?
