low beam caution light (archive)

I've been having an annoying problem with the headlights on my '84 633csi. Usually, but not always, when I turn on my headlights, the low beam light on the caution panel comes on. The lights work fine in every way and I have checked my connections and the wiring. Anyone run into a problem like this or have any suggestions?
