I have been an admirer of BMWs for decades and the owner of a '95 530ia for about 4 years. IMHO, the six series has always been the sexiest of ride of all.

I've begun some priliminary research on the later production years (88 and 89) of the 635csi and the M6. All things being constant (maintenance, repairs, avail parts, insurance, etc.), I am trying to balance the cost of ownership, reliability and of course raw fun.

Even after some mods with the 530i (suspension, airflow, chip) I wish I had gone for the 540i. Am I crazy to think it will be any different if I get a tricked 635 and not the M6?

The E34 has been a blast on the track. The soon-to-be purchased E24 will not be a daily driver and take over any track time. My gut tells me to get the 635 and make it a real wolf in sheep skin. Without having to sell my house, are there enough proven mods still on the market today for the 635?

The M6. Is this car going to be sooo much fun to drive that I will 'forget' about the high expense of owning and driving it? I'll probably spend around $15K on the car.

Any feed back is welcomed. Thanks and Happy Holidays!
