: I am planning to replace the front struts on my '78 633 and was wondering: once the strut is unbolted from the shock tower and the spring is compressed, is there enough clearance in the wheel well remove and replace the insert? Thank you, Bill

You weren't considering doing the job with the strut still on the car, were you??

Unbolt the strut at the bottom (3 bolts) and do the job in a vise or equivalent stand.
