: I do not have a contact. I simply called WA DMV and spoke to the guy who answered. It WAS depressing, but I bought my Alpina anyway. I live in Thurston Co. where we do not yet have emmission checks.
: BTW, I recently spoke to the owner of the US Alpina distributorship (in CA) and they had their previously CA registered turbo-Euro 735 (a 745i look-alike) declared illegal-for-highway-use eventhough it passes the sniffer cycle with flying colors simply because under the hood it doesn't exactly match pictures the smog stations are supplied with.
: Seeing just how many enthisiast-owned Euro cars are in the whole country, I cannot believe that we are that big a problem (especially when one take-off in a DC-9 aircraft that I fly for a living equals 35,000 miles of driving a car).
: The "jack-booted thugs" are soon coming to a neighborhood near you.

Well, just ban all of the airplanes, ban all of the cars!!! Lets do away with all of the trains, ships, motorcycles and anything that produces emmitions!!! Can't these people pull their collective heads out of their a$$'s and get on with it. Seriously, if the car meets whatever sniffing criteria there happens to be in whatever state the car resides, who cares what it looks like under the hood. That is one of the stupidest things that I have ever heard. Joey
