One more area to check is on the doors, on the forward door jamb, where the window arch meets the door jamb. Look under the triangle shaped rubber piece. For some reason it is a particularly favorite rust spot...even on garage queens...

: : I'm considering buying an 88 635csi with 100K miles from a Michigan dealer. Common sense tells me that cars in this state are exposed to road treatment (salt & sand) most of the year, speeding up the rusting factor. The price is right but how concerned should I be about rust on this car? Should I be turning my back on this deal and concentrating on southern cars? Any feedback on this issue,
: : especially from people living in this area, is highly appreciated.

: If it's rusted, forget it! If not then what's the $$$$? You can find plenty of cars on onlinetrader.com or recycler.com. There's plenty of 6ser in S CA for good deal. Goodluck!
