One more area to check is on the doors, on the forward door jamb, where the window arch meets the door jamb. Look under the triangle shaped rubber piece. For some reason it is a particularly favorite rust spot...even on garage queens...

Common sense tells me that cars in this state are exposed to road treatment (salt & sand) most of the year, speeding up the rusting factor.
