That was the only place I had any rust on my euro. I put a green liquid, the name of which escapes me, over all the rust. The stuff smells like sulfer when applied, and turns rust to a black primer. Afterwards, I painted it to match the car. I went so far as to take the doors down, and inspect them for further rust. I found none. I did, however, find that there was no plastic liner in my doors! I went to the local thrift store, and bought some 10ga vinyl. After placing it over the bare doors, and gluing it on, I cut a few holes in it for the mirror wires, and door panel clips. The car has much less wind noise now, and stays cooler in the summer! As for the rust, STOP IT NOW! I went an extra step, and removed those rubber things, soaking them in a mild soapy solution to remove any residual rust from them before putting them back into place. I check the spots for rust every few months; so far so good...
