My M635 likes Sunoco 94 best as well. Even going to 93 causes a noticable drop in performance.

After a recent tuneup, I've come to the conclusion that 94 is optimal. I added some octane booster to see if that would make a difference since that tuneup, and it does nothing.


: Good point about the often misunderstood octane rating. Many people do in fact incorrectly assume that it is somehow a power rating. Having said that, the BMW specifies 96 octane for the s38 engine in the M6. Based on the differences between the european and american rating systems I believe that works out to 93 or 94 in the US rating system. I use Sunoco Ultra 94 in my M6 and this seems very good. I understand that Sunoco 94 is not available everywhere as it is here in western PA.
