I own an '85 Euro M635 which is probably what you are actually looking at. (11k is a good price) The manufacter badge on the inner fender should designate that. I would say that if it is the original owner, the body is tight, the miles are true and all the records are all available it is definately worth a look. These are not inexpensive cars but I haven't had any BMW that was "cheap to keep".
The insurance is a pain, they tend to mis-title the car with the us model designation because they can't find it in their computers and so will the state DMV so you have to be careful to watch that process. I'd say collision on the car is kinda of joke since the premiums will be so high and most will salvage the car rather than rebuild.
The motors are legendary for going quite a while if properly maintained. It's the best BMW I've owned or driven in 20+ years with BMW's - Good luck.
: I am looking at a 86 M6 that was purchased in Munich by the man I am buying it from. He is the original owner. What am I getting? It has the steering wheel on the left side, like american cars? How do I tell if it is an american M6 that he just purchased in Germany? Or if it is a M635 Euro? I think he is giving it away, only $11,000. The Car has 100,000 miles and a full service history. Is this a good deal, and what do I need to look for? Thanks in advance.
