In some catalogs I have seen where they ask you to send in the whole ecu for reprogramming. I'm not too comfortable with that and would just rather add a chip if at all possible. Thanks!

Pre '84 cars have the chip soldered in directly (no socket), so replacement involves unsoldering the old chip and soldering in a new one.

THAT is why you send your computer.

Seems this way, if hey screw up your box, it's on them, where if YOU screw it up plugging in a chip, it's YOUR fault.
