: : From your question I assume that you are not considering the "recommended" fix which is to soldier leads to the SI board and locate a remote battery holder under the dash where it is easy to get to. Unless you like taking the instrument cluster out every few years, you might want to consider that. It's easy to do and there are directions that I can point you to if you need them.
