: Does anyone know if there is a chip made for a 1984 633csi? In some catalogs I have seen where they ask you to send in the whole ecu for reprogramming. I'm not too comfortable with that and would just rather add a chip if at all possible. Thanks!

Hell,Pat
Seems that you are really into getting more out of your car.
Here is the truth concerning your year.
There is a chip for your car 1984 633csi.Here is the problem area. !984 633csi, there are two ECU's with the same # Motronic 0 261 200 008.Only a 1984 633csi with a production date of march 84 on will have a chip that can be replaced. This means that there is very few late 84 633's. 83 and 83 633 have an ECU that has a five chip configeration instead of the single chip.Dinan are the people that know there stuff .The chip is $249.00 U.S.
When one goes about checking this out you will find two back to back curcuit boards that have to be taken apart to see what I am saying.I am looking for a late production date also for I would like a chip. Only other way would be to send the whole ECU to Korman and I think that they intern send it to Authority Chip to make a conversion that cost $ 500.00 U.S. This Is $750.00 Canadian to much for my blood.
