'88 635 aftermarket cat-exhaust replacement? (archive)

Hello,
Looks like I'm in need of replacing my catalytic converter on my 88 635 automatic. My understanding is that the whole front exhaust pipe has to go too as the cat and pipe are one piece. My OEM cat-back has been replaced a few years ago and is still in good shape. Seems that every aftermarket supplier that I know of only sells cat-back systems (eg. Supersprint, Tri-flo). Instead of paying $2K for a OEM part, I'm wondering if anyone here knows of a good quality aftermarket supplier that makes the cat + front pipe.

Also of interest is that the '88 to '89 exhaust systems are not interchangeable with older model years making the '88 OEM part even more expensive. I hope the price is not reflected in any aftermarket cat systems if available.

Thanks,
Robb
