Ed,

I just did the job on my '87 635 a month ago.
I upgraded to all S/S brake lines available from a number of sources on the net. I paid approx. $75 for a set of
six lines, four on back and two on front. Watch some suppliers as they get $100 and up for these lines and
they are all basically the same line.
As for fluid, I changed to ATE Super Blue as the color change is easy to spot when purging all the lines.
No need to get too fancy on fluid as you will never use street brakes hard enough to boil even the cheapest
racing fluid.
Make sure you bleed clutch slave cylinder line while your changing fluid.
